Essential storage keeps sessions secure and preserves guest progress. StoryGuessr uses Vercel Web Analytics by default for anonymous, aggregate traffic measurement. It does not use analytics cookies and does not recognize the same visitor across different days or websites. It records page paths, named UTM campaign fields, referring hostname, approximate country, browser, and device; arbitrary query parameters are removed. You may opt out below.

StoryGuessr also records identifier-free gameplay measurements by default: game starts and completions, story and mode, moment identifiers, selected answers or rounded timeline guesses, correct answers, errors, and scores. These events are sent without browser credentials or a referrer. They retain no player, account, browser, session, IP, user-agent, referrer, or location identifier, and receipt times are rounded to the hour. They cannot be used to reconstruct a player’s journey. You may opt out below.

StoryGuessr’s PostHog product analytics is on by default and can be disabled below. It uses a persistent anonymous browser identifier to measure repeat visits and connect intentionally defined page and gameplay events—including story, human-readable moment identifier, mode, score, round outcome, and rounded guessed and actual story positions. If you sign in, the identifier is linked to your internal StoryGuessr account ID so activity can be recognized across signed-in devices; StoryGuessr does not send your name or email to PostHog. The identifier is reset when you sign out.

PostHog does not receive full prompt or reveal text, selected answer text, search text, payment information, broad click autocapture, session replay, surveys, or advertising profiles. Campaign attribution is limited to named UTM fields, the landing path, and referring hostname. StoryGuessr honors an explicit opt-out and Global Privacy Control.

Advertising is disabled until StoryGuessr activates a Google-certified consent flow; that flow will control advertising consent separately.
