Privacy notice

What StoryGuessr stores.

Effective August 29, 2026. Guests can play without an account. Guest progress is stored locally in the browser. When you create an account, StoryGuessr stores your email identity, game history, seen moments, subscription status, and story votes so those features work across sessions. When you contribute and request a story, StoryGuessr stores the payment reference, contributor email, requested title and medium, and any optional creator or request notes you provide. If you submit feedback, StoryGuessr stores the category, message, any optional name or reply email you provide, and your account ID when signed in.

Service providers

Supabase provides authentication and database services. Stripe processes payments; StoryGuessr does not receive full card details. Resend may deliver transactional email. Vercel Web Analytics records anonymous, aggregate visits by default without cookies or cross-site tracking. It may include the page, referring hostname, campaign tags, approximate country, browser, and device. Its visitor identifier is derived from request data and resets daily. StoryGuessr removes arbitrary query parameters before sending a page view. StoryGuessr separately records identifier-free gameplay measurements by default, including game starts and completions, story and mode, moment identifiers, selected answers or rounded timeline guesses, correct answers, errors, and scores. These records contain no player, account, browser, session, IP, user-agent, referrer, or location identifiers, and their receipt times are rounded to the hour.

PostHog product analytics is also enabled by default and uses a persistent anonymous browser identifier to measure repeat visits and connect intentionally defined page and gameplay events. Its events may include the story, human-readable moment identifier, game mode, score, round accuracy or outcome, rounded guessed and actual story positions, campaign attribution, approximate location, browser, and device. When you sign in, StoryGuessr may connect this activity using only your internal account ID so signed-in use can be recognized across devices; it does not send PostHog your name, email, payment information, search text, full prompts, reveals, or selected answer text. Broad click autocapture, session replay, surveys, and advertising profiles remain disabled. The browser identity is reset on sign-out. StoryGuessr honors an explicit opt-out and Global Privacy Control.

Retention and choices

Gameplay history remains while your account is active. Product analytics event data is retained for product improvement and retention analysis under StoryGuessr’s configured analytics retention period. Payment records may be retained as required for accounting and fraud prevention. Story requests and feedback may be retained to plan improvements, respond when requested, and keep a record of resolved issues. You may opt out of traffic, product, and optional gameplay analytics from Cookie Preferences, and request account, feedback, or story-request deletion by emailing [email protected].

Children

The service is intended for people aged 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13.
